Red is the color of blood, the color of life...

I just finished reading the 15th volume untill final volume of "RED", a manga, made by Muraeda Kenichi. Some of you might know him by his other work such as "Masked Rider Spirits" and "Oretachi no Field (published in Indonesia as Our Field of Dream)". This manga... is great, great in many aspect. At first, I thought this is just a regular seinen manga with Indian VS Whites as the theme. But, the problem just getting deeper and deeper. I won't spoil what is the story about and such, also because right now I'm in quite melancholic state of mind after finished reading all of it.

I'll just tell you some of the main feature in here:
1. Many characters here have a very good design, appearance-wise and character-wise. Despite many people here wearing army uniform, they still could tell apart from one and another. FYI, the author drawing style is muscle-ful for the men and sexy (in many sense) for the women. One fun fact, most people here are named after color.
2. Super cool gunfight. Handgun, shotgun, magnum, riffle, you have it all. The battle strategies are also well-made. But beware, this one is very bloody.
3. Comedies, yeah comedy. To maintain balance among serious and tense situation from time and time, once in awhile we will have a mood cracking jokes and such, even in the middle of serious battle. This one isn't cheesy, I bet on it.
4. Well made stories and some good twist, also deep character background. Something hard to get these days.
5. Emotional impact. This author is very good at playing many kind of drawing technique and panel arrangement to make emotional impact have its maximum effect. He is also superb at drawing people face, truly showing the emotion. If you don't believe it, just see it by yourself.

So my conclusion on this one: This is a masterpiece. You better read it and see, what is this all yapping about. Ah, one thing to take note. This isn't some reading material for those with weak hearts. Other than being very bloody in the battle, it also has many emotional impact in here and there. Many stories here are more than hankerchief-wetting drama. It's tragic, very. Sorry kids, this is only for the adults.

If you're asking why am I, someone who rarely write any journal now write this review, it's because this manga give me really big impact. I learn a lot in here, about life and such, about what is wrong and what isn't. Sorry, for writing such EMO journal. If this doesn't interest you, you can pretend never seen this one. Next time I'll try to write something more cheerful and light.
